PROJECT LOOM

In the fall of 2013 when the three of us were on a holiday in India, we visited a village where the weaving of banana fabric is the specialty.

The process is labor intensive as it involves the harvesting of the banana bark, converting it into twine and finally weaving it along with cotton, hibiscus or jute on wooden hand-looms. It takes approximately 3 weeks to weave 15 meters of fabric.  All of this is done by women.

Their hard work and determination has made it possible for them to provide for their families.

As mothers ourselves, we perceive the common thread between their lives and ours and would like to give them an opportunity to be self reliant, confident and happy.

Through the sales of our products, we lend a hand to the women artisans who weave the banana fabric used in our globally inspired bags and clutches.
